ORNIS are Sabine Vogel (composition, flutes, live electronics) and Kathy Hinde (live video and objects).
The first time they met was in Norberg in 2008. They did a spontaneous collaboration together, which was curated by Mats Lindström. They found out, that the way how Sabine's creating music and Kathy is creating her visual art is very similar and they continued to work together as ORNIS. Sabine and Kathy are developing new performances and challenging the way in which they present their work so it crosses over into installation / performance. During a residency at STEIM in Amsterdam, ORNIS explored the possibilities of projecting images onto ice and glass, and also using these materials to generate sounds. Besides Norberg, they performed at ISEA Ruhr 2010, at STEIM, on the Fringe Festival in Brighton and several times in Bristol.
