Artists/ Workshop: Mälardalen University the School of Innovation Design and Engineering
Mälardalen University the School of Innovation Design and Engineering presents a workshop based on two theses.
Time Machine Navigation of Media Content
In this project, we have explored and implemented a design for navigating and manipulating media content. The design presents and organizes content primarily based on time metadata. Our approach is based on the hypothesis that artists can navigate media data – such as audio and video – on the basis of other meta data attributes than name. The life span of content is also visualized allowing artists to see the development of a particular piece. The presented prototype runs on iPad devices.

Strategovarius
Strategovarius is a collaborative music game based on an idea by Håkan Lidbo for entertainment and pastime in public places. The game is designed for two players and is played on a touch screen. The game is to get a ball caught with the opponent. The rectangular game board is divided into two halves by a center line. In each half, there are 24 evenly distributed circular nodes, each node plays a note. Sliding your finger over the surface binds the nodes together as a path for the ball. The ball plays a melody by passing all the nodes across the board.
Generative Chambertronica and Visualization
This project explores the experiential qualities of generic music creation and visualization interactivity with music performance. The Kinect gesture input device is used to transform gestures and audio input of a saxophone player into visuals and audio output. But the systems output affects the musician, which makes a tight coupling between the performance of the musician and the system.
